INTENSIVE
Two Focused Days Together
THURSDAYS & FRIDAYS · SELECT WEEKENDS
FRANKLIN & BERRY HILL
Room to slow down and find your way back to each other
Weekly therapy works well for many couples. But sometimes an hour ends just as something real begins. An intensive gives you room. Over two days, we can look beneath the surface of your conflict and practice something new while it still feels close.
GROUNDED IN THE GOTTMAN METHOD

WHY AN INTENSIVE?
DEPTH WITHOUT THE WAIT
Two days together can hold what might otherwise take months of weekly sessions.
MOMENTUM
Nothing gets lost between appointments. Each conversation builds on the one before it.
A CLEAR WAY FORWARD
You leave with a written plan, practices to use at home, and a follow-up session to help the changes take root.
How the two days unfold
Each intensive has a clear structure, with room to focus on what matters most in your relationship.
DAY ONE · UNDERSTANDING YOUR RELATIONSHIP
9:00 We begin together with your story as a couple: how you met, what has been hard, and what you hope for.
10:30 I meet with each of you on your own.
12:00 · Lunch break
1:00 We go through your Gottman assessment results together and set clear goals.
2:00–4:00 Focused work on the patterns that matter most to you.
DAY TWO · FOCUSED WORK
9:00–4:00 A full day of deeper work built on what we learned on Day One. This might include working through a painful moment, a conflict that keeps coming back, or rebuilding trust.
We close by setting up small, daily ways to stay connected, and a written plan to take home.
Both days run 9:00 to 4:00 with a break for lunch, at our Franklin or Berry Hill office.
The approach
The intensive is grounded in the Gottman Method, informed by more than 40 years of research by Drs. John and Julie Gottman. I am trained through Gottman Level 3.
I also bring a developmental and relational lens through the DART Method, developed by Jan Bergstrom and based on the work of Pia Mellody.
Many of the patterns couples get stuck in were learned long before the relationship began. When you can understand where a reaction comes from, it becomes easier to respond to each other with curiosity and care.
This may be a good fit if
You keep circling the same argument. Or you've stopped talking about the hard things at all.
You feel more like roommates. The connection is still there somewhere, but it's hard to reach.
Trust has been broken. You're recovering from an affair or another breach, and want a clear path through it.
Weekly therapy has felt too slow. Or you've tried couples counseling before and left discouraged.
You both want to be here. Even if one of you is more hopeful than the other.
When an intensive isn't the right place to start
Physical violence, threats, or fear for your safety in the relationship
An affair or outside relationship that is still ongoing
Active, untreated addiction
Current thoughts of suicide or harming others
If any of these apply, please still reach out. We'll talk about what kind of support makes sense first.

Questions couples often ask
-
That's common, and it's okay. The intensive works best when both partners choose to come, even if one of you is unsure. If only one of you is ready, individual therapy can be a good place to begin.
-
Intensives are often most helpful when things feel urgent or overwhelming. You don't need to wait until things are calmer to begin.
-
Yes. The Gottman approach to affair recovery follows a clear structure: understanding what happened, rebuilding trust, and reconnecting. The outside relationship needs to have ended first.
-
Ensō does not accept insurance. We can provide a superbill for out-of-network reimbursement, though intensives are often not reimbursed.
-
Some couples return to their own rhythm with their plan and follow-up session. Others continue with regular sessions with an existing therapist to keep the work going. We'll decide together what fits.
You don't need to have it all figured out to begin.
Curious whether an intensive is right for you? Reach out and we'll talk it through, at your pace.
